What a lovely way to end the vets season, 6-3 against Warwick. I have to say when we arrived and looked at their team it did not look too auspicious (there were 5 of us from our 5s!) but I was forgetting the force that is Scott Angliss, the guile of John Grundy and the young vets Owen Morgans and the Smyth’s Ted and Hugo. Play commenced and they looked threatening for a few short minutes before our pace (well Scott, Hugo, Owen and Angus’s rather than yours truely) began to cause them some pain and we soon scored. Delighted we just carried on and were soon 2-0 up (forgive me I cannot remember the order in which the goals were scored so credit goal one to Hugo and goal 2 to a short to Scott. They eventually applied some pressure and scored but Angus playing in his third game ghosted into a crowded D and scored a cracking goal taking the ball in the air in a melee of sticks and players. All was well at half time but we expected a comeback and they managed a second. An inspired substitution bringing himself on up front saw Captain Ian score from an Angliss pass, John Grundy weighed in with another. They scored again but we rounded off with a well taken goal  (he would say that wouldn’t he) from Saturday Keeper turned Vets striker Seeley.
