Friday 19th August will forever remain an historic date in British hockey history as GB Ladies won Olympic Gold in dramatic fashion against the Netherlands.

The Dutch dominated long periods of the game but our girls, led by the defiant Maddie Hinch in goal, stood strong.

It ended 3-3 in regular time; Lily Owsley, Crista Cullen and Nicola White with the GB goals. Hinch was the hero during penalties, keeping out numerous Dutch efforts and giving Holly Webb had the chance to win it with the 5th shuffle; she duly obliged!

No doubt you will be left feeling inspired by our girls’ efforts out in Rio. We are still running Thursday evening “social hockey” sessions for the next couple of weeks; come on down and get involved!

Our Club Day takes place on September 3rd; bring your friends, family members, pets… everyone! It’s our traditional curtain raiser to the hockey season, and a great way to introduce any new members to the club!
