Report: Men’s 5th XI vs Beacon 6 – January 13, 2024

Back in December I wrote about how my ex geography teacher always wanted to see progress. Well “Hair Bear”, for that was his nickname would be as chuffed with our progress as I am. Last time round Beacon scored 2 against us, they did yesterday, but where we had no response last time, we outscored them yesterday putting 3 past them for the win. We should have been 3-1 but for a strange first goa;l Read more…

Report: Men’s 4th XI vs Nuneaton 2 (rearranged fixture) – December 16, 2023

To paraphrase Olivia Newton John we need to get clinical, clinical. The score somewhat complements Nuneaton who took their chances clinically; two good reverse stick shots and a two on one penalty spot goal plus one more the writer cannot quite recall. Report: Men’s 4th XI vs Long Buckby 1 – December 09, 2023

So the goal against was unlucky in that respect but disappointing in that it came within a Read more…

Hair Bear also taught sport including a bit of Hockey; what Hair Bear always wanted from us was “progress”and I guess that sums up our philosophy in the 5s, we are simply making progress. So while we lost yesterday it was the first game in our return legs and Read more…

Report: Men’s 5th XI vs Sutton 8 – November 11, 2023

Another cracking game played in great spirit. we won on every count except goals. They started well bu we worked out way into the game and were soon feeling the influence of JD playing his first game since returning to hockey and we started to create chances in open play and to win short corners. But they scored a break away goal, well taken by their striker. It was pretty much ditto in the econd Read more…
