WELCOME TO HAMPTON IN ARDEN JUNIOR HOCKEY CLUB
Training
Our juniors train every Sunday morning on the astro pitch at the club at the following times:
- U8s & U10s: 10am – 11am
- U12s & U14s: 10am – 11.30am
Juniors aged 10 and over can also train every Tuesday evening, 6.30-7.30pm on the astro at the club.
We train throughout the hockey season only taking a break over Christmas. If we have to cancel training for any reason, we will email you on the email address you register with on our website.
The 2025/26 season starts on Sunday 14th September. Our final session of 2025 will be 14th December with training starting up again in 2026 on 11th January. Tuesday junior training will restart on 6th January. Last training session for the 25/26 season will be 29th March 2025. (All 2026 dates subject to confirmation nearer the time.)
It is compulsory for our juniors to wear shin pads and a gum shield while training and playing matches. Children should also bring a water bottle. Sticks can be provided if needed. Please note, studded football type boots and blades are not allowed on the astro.
Matches
Our juniors get the opportunity to play in matches throughout the season. We enter a number of leagues and tournaments across all age groups, and aim to make sure that everyone gets to play as often as they can. We share details of fixtures by email, and keep the club calendar on our website updated as well so you can see what’s going on when.
Match invites are sent to email addresses used when registering on our website (on the ‘Join’ page), and require a prompt response! We also ask you to ‘mark yourself unavailable’ if there are dates you cannot play matches. Log onto your profile (click on ‘My Player’ then ‘My Profile’) to do this.
We also run a Badgers team, which is full pitch hockey with teams made up mostly of junior players but with some adults also on the pitch to support. It’s a great way to transition from junior hockey into league hockey with adults.
Coaches and volunteers
Hampton Junior Hockey is blessed with plenty of quality coaches and volunteers. Our qualified coaches are trained in safeguarding and have gone through Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
We are always on the look out for more volunteers – to coach, help with managing teams, do admin or even to make teas and coffees on a match day. If you would like to lend a hand any time, please talk to any of our coaches.
Kit
We have a range of Hampton kit that can be bought online through our club shop. As part of the coaching fee for new junior members, we also provide a tech t shirt for each player which can be used for training and junior matches.
Fees
The hockey section is part of Hampton-in-Arden Sports Club, and junior membership for hockey gives access to the others sports we offer here, including tennis, racket ball, cricket and squash. Please see our Junior Membership Fees page for more details.
