This was interesting, lined up with 10 adults and 3 youngsters we looked the more experienced side but with two chaps playing their first game and two playing their second, plus Ollie Flint now a veteran of 4 games we were in fact pretty inexperienced, so it was a pleasure to take an early lead, Tom Norrington with a typlical lung busting run and shot. But they came back to lead 2-1 at half time. We pressed and were creating but not the number of chances they did. They scored twice before Ollie Norringson scored at the end of a sweeping move, and impressibe shot from the top of the D. They scored again before our last ditch short corner provided Sebbie Broughton with a last touch goal. So there is much to build on, and hope for, come October. Our stats for the season were:

Played 17 – Lost 7 – Won 6 – Drew 4 – Goals for 46 and against 48. These are our best returns in some time.

Highest scorer Tom Norrington in double figures at 12 (first 5s player for an age to do so), Craig 6, Sebbie B 5, Logan 4 and I have to say it, me 3 (in two games!)

Player of the year with the most MoM nominations 8 was Tom but in total 19 players out of the record equallying 38 utilised were nominated during the season.

Players who played 50% of games or more for the 5s (some played quite a lot of 4s as well) were Me, Mark, Tom, Joe, Nigel, Craig, Ollie N, Henry, Dom, Seb, and Monty.

Special thanks to Joe and Paul Dunne for their goalkeeping exploits in my absence and to JD for coming back from the World Cup playing for Wales to play 5s; that was quite a contrast. Thank you for your patience and coaching.

As Hair Bear (See previous reports) requires we have made good progress, We will think about our targets for next year over the summer, will promotion be a target? Wait and see.

Cheers Chris
