The day started in bright sunshine with an estimated 40 expected to play. We eventually “registered” enough for 8 teams of between 9 and 10 per team! The youngest being Rob Clift’s (our Olympians Medalist) son under 10 to the oldest over 60 (who will remain nameless but it wasn’t me!)

Thanks to Cindy and her team of ladies who served tea and cakes all afternoon followed by an exceptional Steve Bradley BBQ. The sun shone on us all afternoon (thank you Karen mate, looking after me as usual!) and in the middle of the afternoon Karen’s Dad – Graham – formally handed the “Karen Juniper Memorial Dugout” over to us. The dugout has been bought for us by Graham and the Recreational Trust, so many many thanks. A special “thank you” to Graham Holwell and his team for putting it up as it arrived in flat pack form!

Karen was a prolific “Sniffer” of goals so the “Hamtonians touch me for luck” is to help her prowess rub off on the rest of us and speed us to glory in our matches.

Another person who made the day run so well is Sally Brown who ran the Tournament and Teresa and her team of umpires. Also thanks to Steve and Bouncer for a brilliant end to the day with your band (even I stayed up past my bedtime!).

Thank you to all who gave such generous prizes for the raffle and it was so good to see so many ex members again including Sally Walton -and her Mum in kit again!, Rob Clift, Caroline Spellman (taking a day off from Cabinet duties, I hope Mr Cameron gave his permission) Julie and Graham Parry, Peter Juniper and his wife Tash, Ali Baba, Georgie,  Chris and Jack Duerdon, Bully – to name but a few.

We raised £1391 in total – ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. WELL DONE EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART – we must do it again! Karen would have been so chuffed and I feel so proud to be a HAMPTONITE
