Report: Men’s 4th XI vs Long Buckby 1 – March 23, 2024

A scoreline that did not reflect the game. We started slowly and were under the cosh for the first 30 minutes or so. A couple of bizzare umpiring decisions saw Long Buckby awarded a penalty flick, well dispatched by one of their youngsters. The second, what we thought was a reckless air shot in the D off a short corner, sparked us into playing better and the play transferred to their end of the pitch. Read more…

Report: Men’s 5th XI vs Barford 5 – March 09, 2024

Another good win to demonstrate our progress thiis season. owen Greevy weighing in with 2 goals, we noted last week how well Owen was playing and the same this week but with goal outputs, his movement and awareness was excellent and so calm when the chances came. Tom Norrington playing in every game this season with son Oliver were only able to contribute cameo appearences for the fists 15 minies before family duties kicked in. Read more…

Report: Men’s 5th XI vs Sutton 8 – March 02, 2024

Another game showing our progress, in the first half of the season Sutton beat us 2-0, both break away goals. It was a similar story yesterday, JD reporting “we was robbed”. We fell foul of a late break away leading to a short and a Sutton Goal. We Read more…

Report: Men’s 5th XI vs Bromsgrove 5 – February 10, 2024

Ouch that hurt! An 8-0 loss against high flying, top of the league Bromsgrove. I have spoken about our progression and that was there to see yesterday but they are a team transformed. When we played them at our place they beat us 3-0, but on break aways and I recorded that we were always in the game. Yesterday they were the dominant team and played super hockey, hats off they were in a different Read more…

Report: Men’s 5th XI vs City of Birmingham – February 03, 2024

A win and aa well deserved one. Two good goals the first from a marauding Nigel Pond scored shortly after entering the fray (An inspired substitution?)  and the second straight out of training this week. Owen Morgans following up a shot from another member of the team which came off the keepers pads where Owen as practiced was poised to pounce. That has helped us progress our league position and we now sit 7 out Read more…

Report: Men’s 4th XI vs University of Warwick 4 – January 27, 2024

This was nowhere near the game that the score suggests and we were the more complete team. It will always be difficult against Uni sides, they are just all the wrong age! Older than our young players and younger, considerably in some cases, than our older players. But they were not the team that we were. We played the first half with only 10 men and went into half time only 1-0 down. That was Read more…
